About Us

The Village Counselling Service has 10 counselling rooms available with over 160 volunteer counsellors offering over 500 hours of counselling weekly. A cognitive-behavioural, client-centred, integrative approach is adopted which addresses the reality of a multi-cultural society.
The service is generic, however, we deal with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to depression, relationship problems, chemical dependency, loss and bereavement (including working with those who have been affected by suicide), stress, self-esteem issues, sexual, physical and emotional abuse and family concerns.
We confirm that our organisation complies with The Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.
The Board of the Village Counselling Service wish to confirm that no salary or expenses are paid to any Board Member, Director or the Chairperson of VCS.
We wish to assure our clients, therapists, funders, staff and stakeholders that any grants or monies we receive go directly to providing counselling to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. The support VCS receives is essential. VCS would like to sincerely thank you for your unswerving loyalty, hard work, commitment and dedication throughout our ten years.
It is our collaborative efforts that have made VCS a brand associated with the highest quality service provision and the gold standard nationally and internationally. The American Counselling Association's Journal of Counselling & Development in its July 2012 issue, noted the work we do and suggested that the service offered by VCS provides a model which, "…if followed more generally….could provide counselling for those who otherwise could not afford it." The work of VCS is noted in a similar vein by ACA in their 2013 book on international counselling.
If members of the public would like any further information on our work, we would be delighted to oblige. Please email info@villagecounselling.ie or telephone 01-4664218 / 087-9049497 for further information. We profoundly value the trust placed in us by the community, and we understand the importance of transparency and accountability. We ask all our supporters to continue to help sustain the important work we do at VCS.
